From the Operations' Manager
It won't be long now and the tees will be in the ground, there will be the smell of fresh cut grass and the lost balls of another golfing season. Can*t wait!
As spring breaks and the season starts to draw closer, check our website frequently for updates on potential course opening dates. Last season we set a record for Loyalist with a March 26 opening. Pretty tough to match that, but hopefully Mother Nature will co- operate and Scott will *get us on the links* as soon as possible.
Hope everyone has had an opportunity to enjoy the Olympics and by the time you read this, the men*s hockey team, like the women, has won gold.
During mid-March our 2010 new stock will arrive and the pro-shop will officially open April 1 (unless of course Scott and the weather allow an earlier opening). Look for our new lines and some early season specials.
John Boyle will be helping us in the shop this season, so don*t be shy if you need a fitting. John will arrange a time to fit you properly.
Our pro-shop prides itself on being highly competitive with other shops, so if you have seen something elsewhere, check with your pro-shop, maybe we can save you a couple of bucks, even if it is just in fuel and time.
As the season begins to fast approach, it will again be time for our committees to prepare for 2010. Anyone interested in becoming involved in one of our committees please contact Jenn at extension 210 or jenn@loyalistcc.com.
In closing *
Two young blonde women were playing golf at a foggy par three, and could see the flag, but not the green. Each hit their ball anyway. When they walked to the green, they discovered one ball about three feet from the cup, while the other ball somehow had gone directly in.
The blondes tried to figure out which ball belonged to who, since they were both using Titleist number threes. Unable to decide, they returned to the Club House and asked the golf pro for a ruling.
After hearing their story and congratulating them both on their superb shots under such adverse conditions the pro asked, "Okay, so who was playing the yellow ball?"

From the F&B.......
We*re coming down the stretch with spring in sight. My clubs are clean and at the front door waiting for the most exciting six words of the year - *The golf course is now open!*
February saw another successful food of the world event as Chef Jason took us on a tour of the southern USA. The lobster and crab bisque was the hit of the night with over 50 bowls served. Our next stop will be Hungary on March 9. The cuisine will be authentic and delicious as Chef Jason is of Hungarian heritage and is very proud of the dishes he can create. Sign-up with me at ext. 214, or with Jenn in the office.
March also brings us one of the most entertaining holidays of the year*.St. Patrick*s Day. Join us at the club for some fine Irish fare and a little karaoke. Loyalist*s karaoke crown is up for grabs as last year*s champion will not be able to defend the title. We will hold our celebration on Friday, March 19 during the usual pub night hours. Reserve your table as soon as possible to avoid disappointment on that day.
Following St. Patrick*s Day we return to the foods of the world with a quick visit to Mexico. Mexican has always been my favorite type of food and I know Jason will put together a world class menu. Again, sign up with myself or Jenn to ensure you get a table.
Just a quick reminder to everyone, that if the golf course opens before April 1, the restaurant will not resume daily operations until April 1. I*ll always be around though if you*d like a beer after the round, and Chef Jason will be ready with something to warm your belly. Here*s hoping!
